Vows PDP’ll sweep S/East in 2015

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Friday, wrote off opposition political parties in the country, describing them  as havens of dictators, even as he declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will henceforth, clear all elections in the South East.

While speaking at the South East zonal rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held at Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu, Jonathan commended the Igbo people for voting for him in 2011, urging them to support him and his party in their bid for a total control of the zone in 2015.  “We are here to tell the rest of the world that PDP is the number one party in Nigeria. We have not seen number two, let alone a rival. There is no rival political party to the PDP. “In the south east, we have seen that there is no problem. In the South east,  PDP is total.  It is clear that south east is a PDP zone.’’

‘‘From today onwards, PDP will take over all the south east. We have been magnanimous enough, it is total, total , total. I got your request from the governors and other people who have spoken here, the answer will come later. “PDP is the only democratic party that can take Nigeria to join the rest of the world. The party that will not impose candidates. The party that your work will speak for you, the only party that people like me from an unknown background will stand here as president, the only party where you will have a say.

“PDP is the only party recognised outside the country. They only know our  party and what they say is PDP and other parties, they don’t know the names of the other parties. Coming hard on the opposition, President Jonathan declared: “Somebody will come and say they are progressives and you begin to ask how progressive are they where you cannot win a councillorship or chairmanship election unless your brother is the dictator?  Where you are a maximum dictator and you are progressives; progressive to where? Progressive to hell or to where?’’ he stated.

All the speakers including the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, the Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum, Theodore Orji of Abia State and his colleagues from Ebonyi and Enugu states,  agreed that the unity rally was both historic and significant because of what they called “the remarkable, unprecedented achievements” of the PDP- controlled Federal government and the three PDP state governments in the zone,’’ he said.
