Suicide bomber kills 11, injures 37 in Mosque blast near Emir of Fika’s palace

It can now be confirmed that a lone suicide bomber on Tuesday blew up himself and 11 others as well as injuring 37 people at a Shi’ate Muslim Mosque, otherwise known as Alkali Kalli Mosques near the palace of the Emir of Fika in Potiskum, Yobe State in the troubled northeast, Nigeria.

A medical doctor at the General Hospital, Potiskum, warned against having his name in print told DailyPost that, they have received eleven corpses and thirty-seven wounded from Tuesday night Mosque attack.
According to residents who also spoke to DailyPost, there was another suicide attack at a Majalisa, where Shi’ate Muslims were resting at one of the primary schools in Potiskum.
Sani Alkali Potiskum, a resident who spoke to DailyPost on phone on Wednesday morning told our reporter that the mosque was completely destroyed.
He said,  many  who were confirmed dead as well as the injured have been taken to the hospital.
Sani put the total figure from the attack on the mosque and that of the Majalisa at 55 death, and 78 injured. He told our correspondent that, perhaps, the hospital only gave the number of casualty at the mosque.
“It is a sad situation. I was there. We evacuated both the dead and the wounded to the hospital. This is an attack on innocent Nigerians, who were worshipping Allah, and those who were trying to rest after the day activities. The attackers did not mean well for Islam. They did not mean well for Nigeria.” He said.
He said, it was high time everybody in Nigeria puts politics, religion aside so as to come together to fight the common evil of Boko Haram, otherwise the North may soon be defeated and the South, West and the East may experience the same reality in the north.
“We are under attack by some elements who do not mean well for everybody, including themselves. It pains me when I hear some of our leaders defending the Boko Haram sect. They are helping in destroying the North. This is more than some people are thinking, but these elements are cancer that must be destroyed once and for all, if we are to remain as a country.” He added.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
