DELTA 2015: MORE DELTANS ENDORSE TONY OBUH

The emergence of Mr. Tony Obuh into the gubernatorial scene has shaken the PDP in Delta State. But there is a general public acceptance of the emergence of Mr. Obuh as a possible successor to the incumbent governor. Opinion survey across the State has shown that no aspirant from all the senatorial zones have had the acceptance of the great majority of Deltans in the manner of Tony Obuh who up till now a permanent secretary in the State civil service.

Several organizations and individuals across the State have given their express endorsement of the Ika born technocrat describing Mr. Tony Obuh as the perfect gentleman and technocrat that knows the State inside out and have called on all Deltans to rise up and adopt him as it is obvious that he has good intentions and plans for the people of the State. Interestingly, some governorship aspirants of Anioma extraction are already backing the emergence of Obuh.

On the report that Mr. Obuh is not a PDP card carrying member and as such will not be possible to pick him even if he decides to join the party now, a chieftain of the PDP from Delta central who pleaded anonymity explained that the party is supreme. He cited the example of the Adamawa State chapter of the party where a newly joined member of the party, Nuhu Ribadu was cleared by party to run. He further stated that what matter’s to the party is winning the State and that it can only be done with a candidate who is easily marketable to Deltans like it has been with the entrance of Tony Obuh.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment.
