TEN States have misspent the bail out funds and the Paris Club refund, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said yesterday. The NLC made good its threat to “Name and Shame” states that refused to pay workers or make public the bailout funds and the Paris Club refund they got. The congress also warned the government against approving another increase in electricity tariff, saying it will mobilise its affiliates, social partners and other Nigerians to resist any further increase when Nigerians were yet to get a good service foe the previous increase, which has been declared illegal by the court. NLC President Ayuba Wabba, who spoke at the National Executive Council meeting of the Non Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) in Abuja, said six of the 10 states were in a terrible situation, pointing out that the congress had directed all states chapters whose members are owed more than three months salaries to declare an industrial action. APC TO CAPTURE DELTA IN 2019: TALK IS CHEAP

The Delta State chapter of the  All Progressives Congress  (APC) boasts that the party will claim the State from PDP in 2019 is just cheap and silly. These talks are words that are meant to win favours from the APC led federal government rather than serious declaration of intent by the party to defeat the ruling party in the next elections. Most of those in the forefront of these campaigns are alien to the politics of the State.  We wouldn’t blame them much, because they are ignorant of Delta politics. Secondly, the exercise of bringing the divided APC together, which they claim to have succeeded in, doesn’t add up. The addition of Cairo Ojuogbo and his co-travelers into the fray further complicates their situations. The division within the APC in Delta State is skin-deep and multifaceted and it is entirely driven by the reckless ambition of several men against the run of affairs to become governor at all cost. It is most of unfortunate that these power-hungry ...

CAIRO OJOUGBOH: "MAN MUST WACK" POLITICS

Nigeria politics is anchored on one thing and that is platform, in which the actors use to ascend leadership positions. When the Peoples’ Democratic Party was in power and the ruling party in government, the party is the cynosure of any aspiring politician. Now, the game has changed as we are approaching another election in less than one and half years, some elected politicians and those, who may aspire for elective office may change gear to the ruling All Progressives Congress. So, the defection of Cairo Ojougboh and his co-travelers did not come as a surprise, because it only goes to confirm the long-known agenda of the Sherrif led PDP, which was to destroy the party and then pitch tent with APC. Nigerian politicians have no scruples and are devoid of ideology and morals.  Politics, for years, or all too long, has not been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong... There is no doubt Nigerian politics cannot produce anything different from what we have ...

NNAMDI KANU: A STRONG SPIRIT AND AN UNENLIGHTENED/IMMATURE MIND

What took place in the Southeast was expected by all reasoning people. Granted that the reason that the civil war was fought between 1967 and 1970 has remained with us and has even intensified History has demonstrated unequivocally that no part of a nation breaks away from the mother nation through this method. Kanu may have a serious case but his method is childish and intellectually barren. Reasonable minds were disturbed by his childish and dense utterances, as well as by his acceptance of his ignorant followers' delusional ascription of God-like status to him. It was deplorable to read a speech he made, wherein he demeaned some soldiers who had paved way for his entourage into Abakiliki, a speech wherein he also belittled the governor of Ebonyi as scampering once he showed up to the state. It was clear then that the next soldiers would not necessarily conduct themselves in decent manners that would attract ridiculing from Kanu. That's what h...

Others in the cabinet of Buhari have been making such statements but in hushed tones. Mohammed, who was also a d...
