Forensic
experts investigating the deadly blast
at a motor park in Nyanya, Abuja which killed many have identified the
bodies of two men who are believed to have participated in the bombing.
A third suicide bomber who managed to escape from the scene before the
explosion was also identified by the experts and security agents are working towards his arrest. Security sources who revealed this on Monday in Abuja said, the bodies were identified through forensic analysis, with the use of certain scientific variables, including body tissues.
“Through the assistance of experts, we now know those who carried out the
attack. Although two of them are dead, we are on the trail of the one who is
alive,” the source said. When contacted for more information, the police spokesperson, Frank Mba, said he wouldn’t make any comments now so that the investigation would not be jeopardized.
Some of the victims who survived the blast have been discharged from the hospital, while about 29 are still receiving treatment in various hospitals in Abuja.
After the blast, there were reports that the victims were being neglected and left hungry.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Mohammed Sule dismissed such reports, adding that the medical bills of all the survivors were paid by the FCT administration except that of a victim who discharged himself from the Maitama District Hospital and checked into a private hospital.
