Africa’s 16 most dynamic and high-growth companies

           
One the eve of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa, to be held in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, the organisation has announced its selection of sub-Saharan Africa’s most dynamic and high-growth companies.

The WEF says these 16 African global growth companies (GGCs) have “clear potential to become global economic leaders”.

While the 16 nominated African GGCs come from a wide range of sectors, they share a “track record in exceeding industry standards in revenue growth, promotion of innovative business practices and demonstration of leadership in corporate citizenship”, according to the WEF.

The selection is dominated by companies from Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya, with Uganda and Mauritius each with one firm included in the list.

  • Nagode Group (Nigeria)
  • UAC of Nigeria (Nigeria)
  • Computer Warehouse Group (Nigeria)

  • Notore Chemical Industries (Nigeria)
  • Seplat Petroleum Development Company (Nigeria)
  • Growthpoint Properties (South Africa)
  • Capitec Bank Holdings (South Africa)
  • Webber Wentzel (South Africa)
  • KZN Oils (South Africa)
  • Net1 UEPS Technologies (South Africa)
  • Tekkie Town (South Africa)
  • Simba Group (Uganda)
The WEF on Africa kicks off tomorrow, with over 1,000 leaders from business, government, civil society and academia expected to attend.

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a 12-member Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), tasked with recommending individuals eligible for presidential pardons from criminal convictions. The committee, chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It has a four-year tenure and includes members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as representatives from religious bodies and four eminent Nigerians. Among the notable appointees are Justice Augustine Utsaha, Prof. Alkasum Abba, Chief Akinlolu Olujinmi (SAN), and Prof. Nike Sidikat Ijaiya. GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI APPOINTS OSEJI AS DELTA HEAD OF SERVICE

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Minimim Oseji as the new Head of Service. Her appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who served in the position for nearly nine years. Dr. Oseji, a medical doctor, was previously the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and had also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
