Dr. Uduaghan Signs MOU for the Provision of 1000MW of electricity to Delta State

 Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON, Governor of Delta State has said he is pleased with the signing of  Memoranda of Understanding with SkyPower, a Canadian company, for the provision of 1000 Mega Watt of electricity to the State. In his speech after the signing, the Governor noted that "this is a major step forward in the realization of the vision of  Delta Beyond Oil". He stated that "Power is one of the basic amenities for industries to thrive and a major catalyst in the generation of various business opportunities for the youths.
 

Provision of 1000MW of Electricity, DTSG Signs MoU with SkyPower.

The Delta State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Canadian company, SkyPower Global for the generation of about 1000MW of Electricity in the State.
The State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan while addressing journalists shortly after the signing of the memoranda said he's very happy about the development because it will in no small amount contributes to the realization of the vision of 'Delta Beyond Oil" saying "Power is one of the basic amenities for industries to thrive, and it will also generates a lot of job for our teeming youths."
The company also signed another memorandum of understanding with the Federal Ministry of Power for the generation of a total of 3000MW at different sites and for the establishment of a Solar Panel Manufacturing Plant in Nigeria.
The Vice President - Africa of Skypower Global, Benoit Fortin, while announcing the readiness of his company to move to site almost immediately after the signing of papers, starting from Delta State, said "SkyPower is committing about $5 Billion into projects in Nigeria."
The Canadian Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, Mr. Christian Paradis, in his address earlier reveals that, a lot of Canadians companies are ready to come and invest in the booming Nigerian market and now that the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) between Nigeria and Canada has been signed, the gap that once existed has been bridged.
According to him, "This will result in greater prosperity for everyone. And it will bring predictability and stability for Canadian and Nigerian investment in both our Countries.
The Agreement gives Nigerian businesses secure access to the Canadian market and also gives Canadian companies the confidence they need to take advantage of the many growing opportunities in Nigeria."
Three other companies, Newmetric Limited in partnership with Blue Spike Beverages Canada, Thomas Canning/Utopia, and WeWi Telecommunications which announced the launch of Solar Powered Laptop computers also stated their interest in entering into the Nigerian Market.
Also present at the meeting were the Nigerian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga; Nigerian Ambassador to Canada, Ojo Madueke, Delta's Information Commissioner, Barr. Chike Ogeah, Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Charles Ajuyah and Commissioner for Enegy, Charles Emetulu both of whom signed the Skypower agreement on behalf of Delta State.
