BREAKING NEWS: Governor Murtala Nyako Impeached

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state has been impeached. He was impeached after the state House of Assembly deliberated upon the report submitted by a seven-man investigative panel probing allegations of financial misconducts against him and his deputy.
NewswireNgr had exclusively reported that the governor was to be kicked out by the state lawmakers and the People’s Demoratic Party, PDP leadership in the state.
The house had accused the governor for breaching the section 188 of the constitution, and accused him to embezzling N120 million, diverted to sponsor a fictitious visit of General Muhammadu Buhari to the state to commiserate with victims of insurgency in Madagali and Michika LGA.
They accused him of fraudulently awarding a contract of over N8 billion through SNECOU Group of Companies Ltd, a company linked to one of the governor’s wives to siphon public funds without delivering any services to the people.
Minutes before Nyako was impeached, his deputy, Bala Ngilari, resigned his position as the number two man in the state, allowing for the Speaker of the house of assembly to take over as stipulated by the Nigerian constitution.
Ngilari’s resignation letter was read at the plenary by the speaker of the Assembly, Umaru Fintiri and approved by the lawmakers.
The Assembly is heavily fortified by security operatives who have denied people access to proceedings.
Details of the proceeding to follow..
