Ten-month-old Wendy Oruma and her two siblings, Gabriel, 3, and Bryan, 6, who were reportedly abducted on Saturday at Ugborikoko in Warri, Delta State, alongside their mother, Mrs. Tokunbo Oruma, have been rescued unhurt by the police.
The Delta State Police Spokesperson, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, said in Asaba Thursday that the kidnappers drove the victims away in the woman’s Honda CRV to an unknown destination.
Kalu explained that the police Special Anti-Kidnap Squad (SAKS) trailed the kidnappers through the phone number they were using to negotiate a ransom with the victim’s husband after the case was reported.
She added that on sensing that the policemen were closing in on them, the hoodlums released the victims, who have since been re-united with their family without ransom, adding that the police were making determined efforts to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sijbenu Godwin has been arrested by the police at Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South local council for unlawful possession of firearms. Kalu said the suspect allegedly threatened and intimidated people at Ekrevwer Quarters in Ugevwughe community by sporadic shooting.
The items recovered from him included an Italy-made pump action and 44 live cartridges.
