Nuhu Ribadu’s Decampment: Whose call is it?

Party faithfulness thrives in a culture where party ideology and philosophy exist. Faithfulness does not exist in a vacuum!

Looking critically into the two big parties viz, PDP and APC, you can hardly see anything ideological or philosophical upon which they are fundamentally founded or built. If you ask me, both parties are basically a group of MOSTLY corrupt and discredited Nigerians in high places who have come together with the sole aim of perpetuating corruption and keep their loots forever.

To a disciplined, stainless incorruptible and patriotic mind that wants to make a difference but unwittingly found himself in either of the two parties because of the realities on ground, there is actually nothing to write home about in regard to party faithfulness and loyalty. What such a person needs is any of the two rotten platforms that could provide him with the opportunity at a given time, to be able to launch himself into a place where he would render services to make a unique difference in the lives of the people, nay, his fatherland, based on his personal (not party) ideology and philosophy.

Nuhu Ribadu, by all considerations is not only above board but has the burning desire to serve his country and countrymen and women. But was APC - his erstwhile party ready to provide him with a platform? No! If things were equal and people had a sense of fair judgment vis-a-vis the interest of the country at heart, you cannot see a personality of Nuhu Ribadu's calibre in a party and begin to think of picking Buhari over and above him for a presidential ticket! Buhari is being considered over and above Ribadu for anything but the interest of the country!

Given his attributes and antecedents, Nuhu Ribadu would make a far better President of Nigeria than any of the presidential candidates - potential or nominated in both parties that are now parading themselves for the plum job. He is stainless, patriotic, incorruptible, outspoken, tested, well informed, focused, veritably de-tribalised and has a burning desire to serve in order to make the country (not a part of it) great.

Since APC (a party with no apparent difference in ideology and/or philosophy from the PDP) is not ready to afford him with a platform for an opportunity to serve, he might as well grab that opportunity from the PDP. I think that is what he has just done and he is right!

A governor Nuhu Ribadu of the State of Adamawa would make a huge difference for that State. He is an asset and a blessing anytime, any day!

The more APC toys with a Buhari candidacy the more it moves farther from wrestling power from the PDP. The choice is there's.
