TONY OBUH: THE BEST CHANCE FOR ANIOMA TO ATTAIN THE DELTA GOVERNORSHIP

A group of progressive, forward looking and patriotic Deltans yesterday in Asaba, resolved to rally support for the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Asaba, Mr Tony Obuh.
They also urged Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi to ensure that Mr. Obuh is drafted into the Governorship race.
Meeting under the aegis of DELTA PROGRESSIVES, the group described Mr. Tony Obuh as a symbol of unity, change and qualitative leadership. Obuh values the unity, stability and orderly development of Delta State” the group said.
In a statement issued after the meeting signed by the President, Mr. Ogagaoghene Otikpo and the Chief Adviser of the group, Dr. Innocent Ojefia stressed that the decision to draft Obuh into the governorship election in the State was born out of our patriotic desire to promote and sustain democratic institutions and also use his vast experiences in Government to promote good governance of the State.
Mr. Tony Obuh is an embodiment of humility, simplicity and hard work. He is the face of integrity and resourcefulness. He is also the best chance for the Anioma people to attain the Delta governorship and the most suitable person to lead the State after the tenure of Dr. Uduaghan being an insider” the statement said.
Obuh will allow for continuity and maintain a stable and peaceful State, promote social justice and protect groups that for various reasons are politically weak. He will also embark on aggressive development of the State and regularly consult the elders, women, youth, traditional rulers and others on how to move the State forward.”
The group urged Deltans at home and abroad, to line up behind her. “We need a Governor who is cool headed with exceptional qualities and proven records of service.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
