DELTA 2015: Let Us Advance This State Through Tony Chucks Obuh

Delta State sits on a delicate balance; to either further launch itself into the orbit of sustainable development or relapse into the abyss of arrested development. It would be most unfortunate if the gains made by the Dr. Uduaghan’s administration are sacrificed on the altar of expedient politics that pander to superficial concerns that cannot consolidate on development, prosperity, mutual co-existence and harmony. Delta people must see beyond the fog of acrimony, mischief, blackmail, propaganda and focus on the realities that would serve our development needs.

We must make concessions where there are overriding needs to advance the cause of the State for our collective good. Tony Chucks Obuh, I have often stated, is a product of time that is accommodated in justice. The events in Delta State these last few years have strong providential inclinations. There is the obvious hand of God in our affairs. Whether it is a reward for the partnership which this administration has entered into with God and which is patently expressed in various instruments like the Government House Chapel and the solemn assembly remains a matter in the realm of conjecture. But the point must be made that God is here. It is why we must submit to His will and authority.

The scripture states that no man can prevail by his strength. What is recurring in our State is an attempt by people to prevail with their strength. Having become money bags, they are ready to dare God, dare justice, dare equity. It is in their interest to know that this State is in accord with God as a result of the faithfulness of its leaders. In the last seven and some fraction years, this State has been exalted. And the scripture says that righteousness exalts a nation.

It is for all of us to continue to join hands together through righteous actions to further exalt this State. To do this, we must eschew hate, blackmail, pettiness and mischief and focus on politics of development. We must look for a man with the right credentials and exposure to lead us from the station we are today to another level that would make our State a cynosure of global attention and the envy of other States. Delta United 4 Obuh seems to have begun the journey. Let others within the political environment queue behind him in good faith.

Legacies cannot be handled by one who does not believe. The legacies of the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan administration will best be handled by a believer in the government. Who fits this bill better than Tony Chucks Obuh?
