DELTA 2015: MORE GROUPS AND CRPORATE ORGANIZATIONS ENDORSE TONY CHUCKS OBUH

Nigerian Breweries Plc has keyed into the aspiration of Tony Obuh to be the next Governor of Delta State come 2015. The corporate organization did so at grand ceremony where a truck load of assorted products of the company were donated to his campaign organization. The representative of the company praised the sterling leadership qualities of Tony Obuh and declared their solidarity. In his reaction Tony Obuh commended Nigerian Breweries Plc for identifying with his aspiration.

Also, ahead of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries and the 2015 general elections, more groups have endorsed Tony Obuh. The latest is a Delta Central Youth body – Urhobo Youth Forum for Change. Speaking on the occasion, the president of Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, General Akpodoro praised the courage of Tony Obuh in entering the governorship race. The group promised to hold a press conference in Warri to formally adopt Tony Obuh and then a million man march in Ughelli for him.

He said the group had the capacity to deliver Tony Obuh at the polls because of the numerical strength of its members and affiliate groups and the outstanding goodwill the Tony Obuh project enjoys. He noted that Tony Obuh will deliver the fruits of good governance and will surpass the present standards set by Governor Uduaghan.

In his response, Tony Obuh praised the efforts of the leadership of the Urhobo Youth Forum for Change and expressed joy and satisfaction at their endorsement of his aspiration. He encouraged them to work closely with his campaign organization to put forth a united front.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
