DELTA: Pastor’s concoction kills member in Ozoro

Pastor’s concoction kills member in Delta
A pastor in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Jonathan Ojigbo, is now cooling off in the cell of the state police command.
The concoction Ojigbo allegedly prepared from the shrine behind his church has led to the untimely death of one Evi Samson, a member of his church.
The Cleric, Drumbeat gathered, prepared a black concoction for Samson to drink.
Samson later developed stomach ache, which eventually led to a swollen head and eyes before his death at night of the same day.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celetina Kalu, who confirmed the occurrence, narrated how the pastor, who she said doubles as the Registrar of a Magistrate Court in the state, engaged the victim in prayer session before the prescribed concoction.
According to Kalu, one Samson Uwhemw of Erovie Quarters, Ozoro reported the matter at the Police Station in the locality before detectives pounced on the suspect.
She said: “The man (Samson) said the Pastor gave his son a black concoction to drink, following which his son developed swollen head and eyes and died in pains.
“On the receipt of the report, detectives swung into action and arrested the said Pastor Jonathan Ojigbo. The suspect claimed that what he gave the deceased was a bottle of coke.”
Kalu listed the items recovered on searching the Pastor’s house to include some charms from his shrine behind the church.
The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the hospital for autopsy while discreet investigation into the matter has commenced.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State.
