FINALLY, CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT ENDORSES TONY CHUCKS OBUH FOR 2015

The elders, youths and women of Central senatorial district finally pronounced the decision to support the governorship zoning arrangement in favour of North Senatorial district and the governorship aspiration of Tony Chucks Obuh.

This was announced during a tension soaked meeting in Orerokpe on Monday night, the elders of PDP from Central senatorial district decided to toe the line of peace in the interest of the party since the decision of the party was final.

He said although it was a difficult decision to arrive at, following the popularity of some of the candidates from the district, he noted that there was nothing any member of PDP could do to win the nomination if that person is not from North senatorial district based on the zoning arrangement of PDP . “Something happened before something happened, that is why we have decided to follow Jesus, a man of peace, no turning back, this peace has caused us something, but since Central senatorial district would not want to play opposition we have decide to follow the decision of our party’ he said.

“Central senatorial district is known for peace, when we speak, others listen, for the interest of peace we have decided to support North senatorial governorship zoning, Central had it, South has it now, North should also have it in 2015. PDP members working for Tony Obuh have not committed any offence, they have not betrayed anyone, it pains us more than any of our supporters but we have to abide by the party decision.

He stressed that we have an entity and an ordinary member of PDP cannot take decision for PDP, that it is only PDP that has the right to take decision for any of its members including us.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State.
