The National Headquarters of
the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cancelled the ward congresses conducted
in Cross River, Lagos and Oyo states following the controversies surrounding
the out of the exercise which held on November 08, 2014.
Party
leaders and stakeholders in the states including governors had complained
alleging irregularities with the manner the congresses were conducted. In Cross
River State particularly, the state chapter of the party accused officers at
the party’s headquarters of doctoring the delegates list in favour Abuja based
politicians from the state.
National
Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, told journalists in Abuja
that fresh congresses would be conducted insisting that the last congresses in
the affected states were not done properly.
He
did not disclose the date for the new congresses.
