PASTOR CHRIS, INI EDO & MORE… SEE THE TOP MARRIAGES THAT HIT (MAJOR) TURBULENCE IN 2014

As 2014 is coming to an end, we bring you a list of the seven major marriages that hit turbulence this year.
Uche Ogbodo and hubby: The actress and the ex-footballer, Ubby Atto were only married for only a month. According to the actress who recently gave birth to their baby in the United States of America, her ex wasn’t present at all during her pregnancy. She blamed their breakup on societal influence and his lies.
“I realized I had made the greatest mistake of my life.  The foundation of the union was based on lies and deceit.  We had been dating for almost a year and I thought I knew everything, but nothing prepared me for what unfolded.  Yes, I’m the one walking out of the pack of lies. I’m not going to pretend because I want to be married.  I am not desperate and I would rather swallow my pride and accept I made a mistake than forge ahead in lies.”
She also revealed  that they had a marriage not a wedding.
“It was a marriage, but we didn’t do any wedding.  We didn’t do any court marriage or church wedding.  We did nothing.  We didn’t even do traditional marriage but in my culture, there are many processes to getting married and I did a few of those.  So, you can say I was married.  In Igboland, there are rites you adhere to before you can say this is my wife and I did a couple of them,”
2. Uche Lawal and Juwon Lawal:
In the case of actress Uche Iwuji and oil tycoon, Juwon Lawal, an alleged marital infidelity led to their separation. Despite having a child together already, Juwon issued a press statement notifying the public he’s done with his unfaithful wife.
Reports further claimed Uche Iwuji cheated on her husband with former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo and yet another .
3Ini Edo & Philip Ehiagwina:
It first started as a a rumor on the blogosphere until the star actress, Ini Edo confirmed it by announcing her marriage crash on twitter on October 5, 2014.
Not giving much detail about the marriage to US-based Philip Ehiagwina, she tweeted: “I asked for a divorce from my ex-husband because of irreconcilable differences.  I never cheated on my husband.  There’s a conscious and malicious attempt at tarnishing my image. This whole saga is familiar. Let’s not forget the past.  Thank you and God bless.”
They allegedly parted ways over infidelity and wife battery accusations. Some other reports claimed their inability to have a child together further led to their separation.
It would be noted that Ini actually spent more time in Nigeria than in her matrimonial home in Houston, Texas, USA, all through the marriage.
4. Actor Damola Olatunji and wife: The Yoruba movie star’s 12 months old marriage crashed earlier this year after he allegedly cheated on wife with fellow actress, Bunmi Awoyemi.
The heartbroken Mrs Raliat Abiodun-Olatunji confirmed the marriage crash by sending a press statement to some blogs which read: “I started feeling uneasy few weeks to our Wedding Anniversary when he rarely pick my calls nor reply my sms promptly and will only call me back in the middle of the night.
Gist started filtering into my ears that Damola was seeing Bukky but I ignored but when my husband won’t change I asked him and he denied that the only thing between them is work until Damola’s brother girlfriend called me to tell me that Damola actually brought Bukky to Osogbo and they went to Damola’s uncle home where she made dinner for him before they retired into the room to make love and it started to make sense to me because like thrice in the middle of the night I had seen Bukky’s text messages to Damola saying I miss you, i love you and can’t wait to see you but I allowed it to slide because guys in the industry are in the habit of calling themselves darlings and all.  But when I knew I was in serious trouble was when I came home for our Anniversary and Damola didn’t pick me at the Airport and on getting home noticed that Damola had packed all our wedding pictures and all my properties into the guest room, while waiting for him I took a look at his ipad and behold I read his messages with Bukky talking about the romantic getaways, the fact that he does not want me again and he professing love to Bukky. I was home for 30days and Damola only slept home once,Later I heard he was with Bukky in Magodo, I went to see his parents but got a shocker as they told me pointblank that they would only want what their son wants and all my parents efforts to make peace his parents turned down, I have not spoken to Damola for over 70days as he neither picks my call nor reply my sms.”
The couple have since gone separate ways.
Pastor Chris and wife
5. Chris and Anita Oyakhilome:
General Overseer of Christ Embassy, Rev. Christian Oyakhilome and his wife, Anita (who is also a pastor) also parted ways this year after been married for 23 years.
The news broke online after Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome approached a London court in the United Kingdom (UK) seeking divorce.
In a suit filed on April 9, 2014, at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London (through her lawyers, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors), Rev. Anita wanted divorce on grounds of “unreasonable behavior and irreconcilable differences.”
Surprisingly, Pastor Chris admitted that they were in court but denied allegations of adultery.
He accused his wife of being wrongly influenced by friends, adding that she was no longer listening to her leaders.
Their marriage of 23 years that produced two daughters, Sharon, 21 and Charlyn, 19.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
