SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA IS VERY MARKETABLE AND ELECTABLE -- GOV UDUAGHAN

The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has described Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as very marketable and electable. He noted that when you have a good product you are not constrained by the issue of acceptance as people would readily embrace the product because of its finesse. He however urged party faithful to redouble their efforts in ensuring the victory of all PDP candidates.
Governor Uduaghan made the declaration Thursday night, during the PDP Fund Raising Dinner which was held at the Grand Hotel, Asaba, the Delta State capital. The Governor expressed confidence that the PDP would win in Delta State,.
Speaking also, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, said that with the increasing support being given to the party by Deltans he was confident of victory for all candidates of the party for various positions.
Thanking the leadership and members of the party for giving him and his running mate the opportunity to fly the party's flag, he said the money realised would be judiciously managed to bring about success for the party and all its candidates in next month's elections, as according to him, " it is expedient for us to win, starting with President Goodluck Jonathan."
"I am proud of the progress we have made as a state. Even die hard cynics will accept the fact that the state has made significant progress in education, health care, agriculture, infrastructure and in many other areas. Indeed, I am proud of our achievements as the ruling party in Delta State. We may not have been where we wished to be, but truth is, we have made notable progress. And I am determined to consolidate on the progress already made," he stated.
Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Gabriel Ogbeche, had described Senator Okowa as a good and humane politician desired by Deltans to move the state to a higher level, adding that everybody was desirous to key into his agenda of 'Prosperity for all Deltans'.
Mr. Ogbeche, who is the Managing Director of Rainoil, said he, like many other Deltans, were very passionate about the Okowa project for a better Delta State, even as he noted that, "Okowa is indeed a movement that has come to reshape the State.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
