DELTA 2015: SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA – A BEACON OF HOPE

From the sand beach of Burutu local government area to the agrarian Oshimili North local government area, his name rings the best and the right bell that those on the mountain top and in the deep sea do not need to strain ears to hear. From the lyrics of the song “ Senator Okowa is right, he is right and fair…behold our next governor”, even the unborn child leaps for joy and cannot wait further to join others in mimicking ‘the rightness, the brightness, and the future hope embedded in Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Even former critics have fallen in dying love for his oratory, sagacity, composure and mien. He has shown maturity, rare convincing prowess and astuteness in the marketing of his policy thrust during the rallies.

At some locations Senator Okowa lost his voice owing to constant presentations of his manifestoes to different classes of people. He has convincingly shown that he is the man that Delta people have been yearning for and no time was riper than now.

No doubt, there are a lot of midnight falsehood, blackmail, concocted lies and fairy tales against Senator Okowa, but the deep clouds of anxiety are suspended in the people’s mental skies as more people are emotionally aware today about what the future holds for our dear State.

It is a new dawn that beckons as Senator Okowa, the PDP standard bearer in the forthcoming elections continues to give hope to Delta people. He has not failed in reassuring the people that the future is bright because he too, has seen hope in Delta. He has given the people the needed soothing balm to continuously keeping faith with the government to ensure their hope is not dashed.

He has been very convincing in his promises that many have moved to echo the same words that the Jews after hearing Jesus delivering his famous sermon on the mount were moved to “never have any man spoken like this”. Yes, Okowa is not a neophyte in the field of politics and governance. He knows exactly where the future leads and he seeks the support of every Deltan through the ballot so that he can achieve the vaunted industrialization, agriculture and sustainable development.

His vision for the State, which he has constantly harped on even at the campaign rallies is to: leverage and build on the present administration, transform the economy of Delta State via industrialization, agriculture and sustainable public-private sector initiative, thereby opening up more opportunities for growth and improved living standards among our people, creation of jobs, including respect and upholding the tenets of democratic governance, which he unflinchingly stands for.

He has also promised to ensure the security of lives and property of the people at all times, while adhering to the principle of the rule of law, thereby ensuring equity, justice and fair play, promoting unity and oneness across the State, with due respect for Traditional Institutions and the Elders of our society and to continuously develop, mobilise, and empower the women and the youths via planned and well-articulated welfare programmes.

Senator Okowa is confident that with the support of the people, he would vigorously pursue the task of rural development and integration, which will bring the benefits and dividends of democratic governance to every nook and cranny of the State, including the promotion of trade, commerce, and tourism between Delta, Nigeria and the rest of the world.

He is passionate about an all-round development and continuous transformation of the State; passionate about wealth creation for our people, passionate about industrialisation and economic development, and above all, passionate about the well-being of the average Delta person on a sustainable basis.

Senator Okowa is committed to lifting Delta State into the comity of highly industrialised States.  There is no gainsaying that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is that force of change that will galvanise all Deltans, irrespective of ethnic, stock, religion, or political affiliation, and create a springboard on which the people will ride to unprecedented levels of economic well-being and development.

It is time to put a capable man on the saddle of development, It is time to put a right peg in that right hole, a time to turn our dreams to reality, he is the right choice for the continuous transformation and economic development of Delta people, he is the right choice in this divine mandate to take Delta State to the Promised Land. Okowa remains the right choice to further transform and bequeath to our children, the future generation a better Delta State.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
