DELTA 2015: SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA – THE BEAUTY OF POPULAR ACCEPTANCE

wouldn't bother the reading public with who Senator Okowa is, but I’m happy and it is blissful to celebrate the acceptance of this superior brand by all Deltans without any equivocation.

On Monday, 08 December, 2014, Senator Okowa was voted massively by the delegates to win the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial primaries, which took place at the Event Centre in Asaba. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on the 2nd of January, 2015 displayed the list of qualified candidates to contest the 2015 governorship elections across the country. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Barrister Kingsley Otuaro made the list as the Delta State’s People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate and running mate respectively.

On Tuesday, 13 January, 2015, the people of Delta State showcased to the world by the magnitude of the crowd, which attended his declaration that his emergence was by popular choice. The ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP officially flagged of her campaign for the 2015 General Elections. At the event, which was attended by a mammoth crowd of party supporters from across the State, flags were also presented to standard bearers of the Party for the various elective posts and the Governorship candidate of the Party, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa by the State Party Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor.

Senator Okowa unveiled his manifesto of prosperity for all Deltans, which is based on the SMART Agenda. It is a roadmap towards massive industrialization, agricultural transformation and youth employment. The PDP Governorship candidate, pledged to create the enabling environment to get youths to be productive, in that way transform them into employers of labour, thus spreading the value of human empowerment and capacity building.

He declared his readiness and commitment to delivering on the high expectations of the people and pleaded with Delta people to vote PDP again as there is no other option for sustainable development.

So far, all the twenty five local government areas in the State have been visited by the Senator Okowa Governorship Campaign Organization, as one local government after the other spend time celebrating Dr. Okowa, assuring him and his Deputy designate that they will vote for them massively. All the rallies witnessed thousands of teeming supporters in their colours and songs, singing and dancing to show their total support for PDP in all level of the elections.

Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has become a household name all over the State. The entire State is backing him to emerge governor come April 11, 2015. Unequivocally, Delta State is a PDP territory and will not change come 2015.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
