OGBORU UVWIAMUGE PRESENTATION DISASTER, URHOBO KINGS DUMPS OMENE FACTION OF UPU FOR PROGRESS OF URHOBO NATION.- By FRED OGHENESIVBE

The Labour Party (LP) sponsored Uvwiamuge presentation of Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as Chief Joe Omene's preferred governorship candidate for the April 11 elections in Delta State, met its Waterloo as frustration and disappointment hit the Ogboru camp due to Urhobo Royal Fathers and Clergies deliberate decision not to attend the event which took place today March 24 at UPU Uvwiamuge Center.
The sparkling executive chairs specially arranged for the twenty four (24) monarchs of the twenty four kingdoms in Urhobo Nation as well as those of invited clergies were visibly empty as the special guests refused to show up to occupy the seats reserved for them.
The Uvwiamuge hall was occupy by some youths from neighbouring Uvwiamuge villages as well as Alhaji Asari Dokubo who addressed some scanty youths at the venue. The Youths were visibly unhappy over the show of shame caused by the misleading information that was spread around Urhobo communities by the organizers who boasted that the twenty four kings will be in attendance to give their royal blessings to Chief Great Ogboru.
Chief Omene who wore a heavy look through the failed ceremony told his well spaced guests that the royal fathers could not make it to the event as a result of other pressing engagements, a development which almost cause pandemonium, if not for the heavy presence of security operatives sent by the State Police Command to maintain law and order.
This show of shame is the last straw that broke the camel's back as it has become obvious that Chief Omene's dirty deals with Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to prevent the Urhobo Nation from producing the next Governor of Delta State on April 11 did not receive the backing of the Urhobo clergies and Royal Fathers.
Director of Media and Political Communication of OTEGA4GOVERNOR CAMPAIGN ORGANISATION, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe when contacted on phone said: "darkness can never prevail over light. The spirit and letters of Uvwiamuge Declaration is physically and spiritually coded such that God Almighty will show up at the nick of time to disgrace corrupt Urhobo leaders who went to Aso Rock to sell the Urhobo Governor Project for a morsel of bread."
It will be recalled that Urhonbo Kings and Urhobo Council of Bishops gave their royal and spiritual blessings to Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, the APC governorship candidate to fly the Urhobo Nation's flag in this year's elections.
The joy of the consensus endorsement of Emerhor by the Urhobo Monarch at the Ovie of Ughelli's palace few months ago was short-lived as former President-General of Urhobo Progress Union, Chief Joe Omene came through the back door to embarrass the entire Urhobo ethnic nationality with the kangaroo endorsement of the LP Governorship Candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, a man who failed previous governorship elections from 1999 till date and was recently declared bankrupt by Assets Management Agencies of the federal government.
Chief Ogboru's fishing company, Fiogreat Nigeria Ltd is confirmed to be owing well over N2.8 billion in local debts and $1.4 billion of foreign debts spread across the world. It is obivious that if Ogboru is elected, Delta State treasury will be emptied to pay his huge profile of debts.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
