The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, has commissioned the newly built Effurun flyover in the continued gale of projects commissioning, which is blowing across the State.
Only last week the Governor had earlier commissioned
another flyover built at the InterBau roundabout in Asaba. The scope of the
works in the Effurun flyover included a 120 metre-long six-span bridge, two ramps of about 140 meters
each on either approach bringing it to a total of 400 metres long, “the entire
bridge/ramps structure is a four-lane dual carriage way, comprising of two in
each travel direction demarcated with a New Jersey Barrier.”
The rapid growth of the
Effurun-Udu-Warri commercial metropolis, including the huge oil and gas
industry, maritime activities in our State and neighbouring Niger Delta States
in addition to being a major East-West intersection, have greatly impacted on
the volume of vehicular traffic on the this roundabout resulting in serious
traffic gridlock. The attendant inconveniences and loss of man-hours have all
combined to make this flyover an urgent economic and social necessity.
The completion and commissioning of
this project will no doubt improve the
perennial traffic challenges encountered by motorists and address this
situation to positively impact on the socio-economic life of the
Warri-Effurun-Udu metropolis and the nation in general.
