The president-elect, Muhammadu
Buhari, and the controversial minister of petroleum resources Diezani
Alison-Madueke, are reportedly connected by her husband Admiral Alison Madueke
(rtd).
Diezani and her husband
have been together for 16 years. The couple married in 1999, two and a half
months after they met. They went to the registry and then had their holy
solemnization at the Christ Church in Port Harcourt in July 1999.
Before
their wedding, Alison-Madueke was married with five children but he lost his
then wife. Diezani has one child from her husband.
Admiral
Allison Madueke was the military governor of Anambra State from January 1984 to
August 1985, and later Imo State until 1986. At the time the Igbo elder
statesman was military governor, President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, was
Nigeria’s head of State.
Madueke
later became chief of the naval staff, but after retiring from the navy, he
became the chairman of Radam Maritime Services Ltd., the executive chairman of
Interconnect Clearinghouse and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the
National ICT Merit Awards.
It
was reported that Diezani had been due to travel to the UK next week on
Tuesday, but changed her plans after learning that Buhari was traveling to
London, to afford her an opportunity to talk directly with him.
