Honourable members of the Delta
State House of Assembly today formally resumed the 6th Assembly as the members were inaugurated this morning to function
not only as member but also elect principal officers, following the proclamation of the 6th Assembly by the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
In the election
that followed, Rt. Hon. Monday Owhigho Igbuya was elected Speaker of the 6th
Assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly at its first sitting in Asaba. Hon. Friday Osanebi was elected Deputy Speaker.
We have no reason to doubt the
ability of the House to deliver in their responsibilities to make quality
representation for their primary constituencies.
Speaker
of the House, Hon. Ovwigho Igbuya, said the election was a representation of
the wishes of the legislators. According to him, they are
men and women of integrity and good character who can discharge their
responsibilities as expected.
