The Speaker of the State House of Assembly Honourable Monday Igbuya has set up a seven man Adhoc Committee to scrutinize the DESOPADEC Board Amendment Bill, following its second reading on the floor of the House.
According to Honourable Igbuya, Honourable Dennis Omovie representing Warri South two Constituency will chair the committee while Honourables Pat Ajudua, Reuben Izeze Ughelli South, the Deputy Majority Leader, Oboro Preyor, Sheriff Oborevwori Okpe Constituency are members. Others members are Honourable Alphonsus Ojo representing Ukuwani Constituency and Godwin Abigor representing warri south one.
At the House’s last thursday’s plenary Honourable Igbuya said the Directors of Legal and Legislative Departments would serve as secretaries and directed the committee to ensure all legislative processes in the bill are completed and submit its report to the House when it reconvenes in August.
Speaking on the House’s adjournment the Majority Leader Honourable Tim Owhefere said the long adjournment would give the Select committee time to constitute the Standing Committees of the House for effective legislation of the Sixth Assembly.
Honourable Owhefere stated that the select committee which has the Speaker as Chairman and eight others as members will use the period to undertake the task in line with the policy direction of government.
He said members would also use the adjournment to meet with their constituents.
