GOVERNOR OKOWA: BUILDING THE STRUCTURE TO MOVE DELTA STATE FORWARD

The administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has started with rock-solid equilibrium in all spheres of its initial opus, taking clues from the composition of his team so far.

The superiority in the composition of his team is already galvanising the public to clearly note that the Governor’s aspiration to lead the State was neither for self-service nor for political grandstanding. But to maintain and grow Delta in the competitive edge in the high technological and agricultural fields; to increase the number of jobs that will be available to our citizens and to enhance and diversify our economy long into the future, the State was in dire need of a well-focused, less selfish and transparently honest leader. Thank God, it has found one in Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

The people of Delta State now have that generational leader that will make a difference in their economy. They were waiting to have a prudent leader who will be able to unlock the State’s economic potential. In this, they made no mistake in giving their mandate to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

With Senator Okowa, Deltans have chosen a leader who will be accountable and who will place the people over his personal needs. Delta State now has a leader who has vision for the State; one that can inspire the people and one that can be bold to fight mismanagement of the State’s resources, cronyism and recklessness in governance.

Governor Okowa is confident, assertive, innovative and committed to promoting and defending the interest of the people. Above all, Senator Okowa is prepared to seek solutions from within and adopt the philosophies and practices that will deal with the various challenges that affect the State and develop ideas to propel our State towards the best that it deserves. Governor Okowa’s administration is already operating an open government that has integrity in its actions.

In this world, to be competitive in all aspects, demands radical socio-economic transformation. Governor Okowa with the knowledge gathered in politics, will usher in the economic, political, philosophical and social changes that Deltans truly desire and deserve.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
