GOVERNOR OKOWA CALLS FOR CONTINUOUS PRAYERS

The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said the prosperity agenda of his administration will succeed as it was promised in the name of God.

The Governor gave the assurance at the Church of God Mission International Incorporated, Warri, during the thanksgiving service by Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

According to the Governor, "the Lord is able to change things, there is nothing He cannot do, He will change the lives of our people, even in the midst of scarcity, He will make us deliver prosperity for Deltans which we pronounced in His name."

Governor Okowa used the occasion to call for prayers for his administration, asserting, "we need to continuously pray for our State, we need to pray for ourselves, then we will succeed."

"The real substance is about your soul, the best you can offer the Lord is your true self, your soul rejoices when you live in righteousness, you will not ignore the poor, you will do good because with such, God's name will be glorified," he added.
He congratulated Hon. Pondi for believing in God, observing that Hon. Pondi was a Councillor from where he contested for the state House of Assembly, though lost, he was not discouraged as he expressed confidence in God and contested for the House of Representatives position which he won.

"Hon. Pondi was not discouraged, against all odds as people will say, he contested for the House of Reps and won, it is only God that can do it," the Governor reiterated.

Hon. Pondi at the service thanked God for His blessings on him, his family and his constituency, assuring that he will serve his people always with the fear of God.

Earlier in a sermon, Rev. Joseph Agbarah said Christians at all times, "must honour God, honour our fathers, we must honour those in authority," adding, "we need to reverence God, we must obey His ordinances, worship Him in His sanctuary and in truth."

"We need to be obedient to His words, if we are obedient to God's words, God will sustain us, we should trust in His goodness, He will always provide for His own and judgement awaits those who know Him and does not do His will," he added.

The service was attended by the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Senators, members of House of Representatives, members of the state executive council.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
