DELTA STATE HOLDS INTER-DENOMINATIONAL THANKSGIVING SERVICE ON 24th ANNIVERSARY OF CREATION

The Delta State government has held an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the 24th anniversary of the creation of the State, at the St. Philip Anglican Church, AGGS, Westend Asaba.
The sermon of the day was preached by Rev Oyibo, Chairman of CAN Delta State. He took his sermon from Ecclesiastes 12 v 13 & 14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
1. Without the fear of God we cannot achieve our desire to prosper.
2. What is the fear of God? It is about recognising the supremacy of God in all the affairs and strivings of man.
3. The writer concluded, “Only the fear of God bestows on us true progress and happiness". Without God been FIRST above our selfish interests then all of human achievements namely knowledge, wealth, educational qualifications, titles positions are all meaningless".
"You and I are failures if we do not fear God. We cease to be man if we do not fear God. The fear of God is the only duty of man. The fear of God will ensure speedy realisation of the Okowa administration's SMART agenda of prosperity for all Deltans because: The fear of God's judgment which is certain for all men in the hereafter brings a realisation to do the right thing.

The Executive will do the right thing, so is the Legislature and Judiciary. There will be more revenue generated by the Board of Internal Revenue with real figures declared and certified to be true by the Auditor General. Money for ten jobs will not be budgeted and allocated for one job. Quality not shoddy jobs will be executed. Ghost workers shall cease to exist and there shall be speedier spread of development and prosperity.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
