Arik airline landed on Friday, 15th August 2015 in Yola international airport around 8:30am, having on board the Deputy Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Umar Zanna. Mustapha and all his entourage who headed to Homtel Hotel, along army Barracks road in Jimeta his usual place of Lodging.
He was billed to attend the convocation ceremonies of Modibbo Adama university of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola slated for 18-20th August, after which he will visit the Borno state internally displaced persons (IDPs) taking refuge in various camps in Yola.
The owner and Manager of Homtel Hotel in Yola were the deputy Governor died, Mr Umar Falli told this correspondent that Zanna is not just a usual guest in his hotel but because of their longtime relationship that spans decades, hence Homtel Hotel is not only a hotel but a home for him.
According Umar Falli, the Deputy Governor died in his Hotel room in the early hours of Saturday, where his security barricaded the entire corridor and sleeps there guarding him, while he and some of his aides had good time that lasted till 11:30 pm with no symptoms of sickness whatsoever.
He further explained that he was first among many others that saw his corpse when his security men raised alarm after many hours of his number ringing without answer, and knocking his doors without response.
"The only thing I discovered when I got to his room is drugs related to blood pressure and a device believed to be for testing level of blood pressure.
“I saw him dead with blood out of his Mouth, seems to have struggle with heart issues as even the Government of Borno state issued press statement to the actually cause of his death," Umar said.
"No food was given to him by my Hotel staff, as the man is having his brothers as his closest aides, making sure that his food and all that he needs are the people to provide".
"I am surprise with the kind of stories making rounds in town by people relating his death to many difference issues.
“All I know is that this man died in my Hotel, no food of whatever type was served to him by my staff and being my friend I can categorically tell you that he has heart related sickness as the Doctors confided to me during their examination".
"For your information I know Zanna had almost the same problem in 2007 and 2010 but he survived it, and I believe is not yet time for him to die, so people should stop making unjustifiable stories over the man who died serving his people," Umar added.
