Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba has upheld the election of
Chief Ighoyota Amori of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Delta Central
senatorial zone. Read more at:
The
tribunal returned the verdict that Amori was validly elected as the senator for
the zone following the March 28 and April 25, 2015 National Assembly election
and supplementary election, respectively.
The
tribunal Wednesday threw out the petition by the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) at the election, Hon. Halims Agoda, challenging the
declaration of Amori as the winner of the seat by the Independent National
Election Commission (INEC).
The
chairman of tribunal panel, Justice Mohammand Umah, in a two-and-half-hour
judgement, dismissed the petition of Agoda.
