GOVERNOR IFEANYI OKOWA: SIX MONTHS ON THE BALL

The opening months of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration in the State has been nothing short of inspiring. Despite the paucity of funds across the country, the Governor through its S.M.A.R.T agenda is positively imparting lives of Deltans with his Talk and Do spirit. The people of the State have religiously followed with kind admiration the refreshing touch of gold that the Delta State Governor has brought to the stables of good governance.
The foremost programme of the administration is the Job and Wealth Creation Scheme. Through the Scheme, the State government is targeting the creation of thousands of direct employments every six months through the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurship Programme, YAGEP and the Skill Training and Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP. The first sets of beneficiaries have commenced training at Songhai Delta, Amukpe and other skill acquisition centres across the country. As part of measures to sustain the skills acquisition programme, the State government has commenced the rehabilitation of Technical Colleges in the State.
One of the milestones of the Job and Wealth Creation Scheme is the distribution of production inputs to farmers and transfer of government purchased tractors with implements to farmers' cooperative societies. This programme is designed for existing farmers. The Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP) is aimed at boosting agricultural production through the provision of more efficient inputs, technologies and technical support.
With the coming of dry season, the State government is embarking on massive rehabilitation of basic infrastructure like roads. The government is showing tremendous commitment towards the rehabilitation of roads linking the people, communities and businesses across the State.
It can be said and rightly too that Delta is one of the safest States in the country and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has remained exemplary and focused in his pursuit of the wellbeing of the people.

Recently, one Lagos-based group, Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) came up with an inspiring and heartwarming rating of the Governor as being one of the best performing in the country.

The false alarms by the opposition party in the State that nothing is happening in the State is nothing but spurious fabrication that insults the sensibilities of Delta people, who are living witnesses and beneficiaries of the good governance brought to bear by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

It's a bright and purposeful take off. The next three and a half years in the first instance will be richly rewarding. The people of Delta State are satisfied by the government's effort to better the living standards of the citizens in the face of dwindling finances across the country. Detractors should desist from sponsoring laughable reports that score the State low on performance. The governor is focused and the future of the State is certainly bright.
