OKOWA CHALLENGES EMINENT NIGERIANS TO INVEST IN EDUCATION
The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has challenged eminent Nigerians to always contribute to the growth of the society by investing in education.
The Governor made the call while speaking at the maiden matriculation ceremony cum installation of Chief Edwin Clark as the Chancellor of the Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Burutu local government area of Delta State.
According to Governor Okowa, "investing in education ensures a positive future for our children," assuring that his administration was committed to the development of education in the state.
 "Education is a core value of my administration and we wish that all Deltans are educated because education ensures a positive future for the people," the Governor said.
He lauded Pa Clark for setting up the University, observing that, the establishment of the university was a clear evidence "that no matter your age or financial symbol, you can attract development to your community."
 "You (Pa Clark) are bequeathing a legacy, you have always been a shining light; we say thank you for bringing a university to this serene town; you have set an example that many Deltans will emulate and we encourage Deltans to establish universities and engage in developmental programmes in their communities," the Governor reiterated while urging the matriculants to desist from joining secret cults.
Governor Okowa described joining cultism as "giving one's life to the devil," adding that cultism affects the society, negatively.
Pa Clark at the occasion commended the leadership style of Governor Okowa stating, "your government has been very kind to us and very cooperative towards development programmes."
 He called for the establishment of more universities, observing that education should be within the reach of the people.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Timothy Olagbemiro said the university was fully residential and has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
Former Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau delivered a keynote lecture at the occasion which was attended by Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), Major General David Jemibewon (rtd), Air Commander Indongesit Akauga, Senator Bassey Henshaw, Mrs Josephine Anenih, Dr Cairo Ojougbou, Major-General David Ejoor, Dr Steve Oru, among others.

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a 12-member Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), tasked with recommending individuals eligible for presidential pardons from criminal convictions. The committee, chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It has a four-year tenure and includes members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as representatives from religious bodies and four eminent Nigerians. GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI APPOINTS OSEJI AS DELTA HEAD OF SERVICE

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Minimim Oseji as the new Head of Service. Her appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who served in the position for nearly nine years. Dr. Oseji, a medical doctor, was previously the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and had also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health. In 2020, she was elected as the 22nd National President of the Medical Women's Association of Nigeria (MWAN).
