SECRETARY TO DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT – HON FESTUS OVIE AGAS CANVASSES CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR OKOWA


The Secretary to Delta State Government, Hon Festus Ovie Agas, has appealed to Deltans to continue to support the present administration to enable it achieve its goal of prosperity to all Deltans.

Hon. Agas made the appeal when he received the executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP), Delta Central on a courtesy visit in Asaba. He noted that the present administration was committed to its mantra of “Prosperity for all Deltans” and assured the group that their interest would not be undermined in the scheme of things.

He stated that the PDP, Delta Central, played a critical role in the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the governor of the State in the last general elections.

The SSG, who said the administration has been fair in its appointments, said more would be done to see that more interest were accommodated. Agas espoused on the policy thrust of the present administration as the governor identified agriculture as a veritable means of diversification of the economy, saying that government had done a lot in area of equipping Deltans with requisite agricultural and vocational skills towards wealth and job creation.

He added that even technical colleges were being upgraded across the State to enhance vocational skills as well, stressing that all these are in line with campaign promises, noting that the government was still committed to the provision of more rural infrastructure across the State.He noted that the interest of Delta central would not be forgotten in the provision of rural infrastructure and political appointments among others. 

Earlier, the Chairman, PDP, Delta Central, Sir Tom Amioku, had said the group came to formally meet with the SSG as well as congratulate him on his appointment, noting that his appointment was well deserved given his pedigree as an articulate and meticulous person.
 
He used the opportunity to pledge the continued support of government by members even as he appealed for government support for the party in the Senatorial District.

In a related development, the SSG while receiving members of Government College, Ughelli Old Boys Association during a courtesy visit, charged the group to continue to identify with the educational policies of the present administration as it places high premium on educational development in the State.

Agas, who commended the group for the visit, urged them to continue to contribute to the development of education towards achieving a brighter future for our children. He said he was privileged to attend the Government College, Ughelli which has given him a solid foundation in life like other distinguished alumni of the school. 


On his part the President of the Asaba branch of Government College Old Boys Association, Engr. Fred. Agbonire, on behalf of the group, congratulated Hon Agas on his appointment and thanked him for his assistance to the group in time past. Among members on the visit were the Delta state Head of Service, Sir Patrick Origho.
