The election of Chief Ighoyota Amori,
representing Delta Central Senatorial has been nullified by the Federal Court
of Appeal.
Senator Ighoyota Amori according to court sources was thrown out
of the Senate because of what the court described as ”violations to
the Electoral Act during the senatorial election between Chief Amori and the Labour
Party candidate Barrister Chief Ovie Omo-Agege.’‘
It is not clear why the court’s decision, which came late in the
day yesterday, December 19 but by this decision Barrister Ovie Omo-Agege is now
the duly elected Senator for Delta Central Senatorial district.
LP’s Barrister Ovie Omo-Agege had approached the court
challenging the judgement of the trial tribunal which upheld the disputed March
28 Delta Central senatorial election in which Chief Amori of the PDP was
declared winner.
