GOVERNOR OKOWA INAUGURATES AGRICULTURAL MARKETING COMMITTEE

To boost agriculture and save Deltans from post-harvest loses, the Governor Delta State, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has inaugurated the Delta State Agricultural Marketing Committee with a charge on members to devise ways of identify existing and potential markets for agricultural produce and devise measures and arrangements for farmers to access those markets.
The Committee inaugurated has:
1. Chief Job Creation Officer Prof Eric Eboh - Chairman 
2. Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Austin Chikezie -Member
3. Hon. Commissioner for Commerce & Industry Barr. Mrs Mary Iyasere -Member
4. Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, Mrs Bello Shimite -Member
5. One Representative of YAGEPreneurs (Crops) -Member
6. One Representative of YAGEPreneurs (Livestock) -Member
7. Mr Godfrey Osakwe (Private Sector) -Member
8. Prof. Philip Kuale (Fish farmer) -Member
9. Hon Paul Okpue (Tomatoe Farmer) -Member
10. Chief Joseph Ogbudeke -Member
11. Mr Adjarho Joshua Oghenekaro (Plantain farmer) -Member
12. Dr Phillip Okuada (Poultry farmer) -Member
13. Mr. Gery Ossai (Private Sector) -Member
14. Hon Barr. Raymos Guanah (Rice Farmer) -Member
15. Mr Michael Eyagbe (Private Sector) -Member
16. Secretary - to be provided by Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer
Terms of Reference:
1. Identify existing and potential markets for agricultural produce and devise measures and arrangements for farmers to access those markets;
2. Obtain and disseminate market information to agricultural producers and thereby improve information flow between farmers (sellers) and processors (buyers);
3. Proffer measures for establishing and improving market infrastructure and facilities such as warehouses, cold storage, output aggregation and processing centres etc;
4. Identify and coordinate measures for facilitating the links between production clusters/farmers and off-takers within and outside the state;
5. Identify and coordinate actionable measures to encourage market-oriented production by farmers;
6. Organize and facilitate capacity building for market intermediaries and brokerage along the commodity marketing channels; and
7. Collaborate with national and international agencies in fostering linkages between farmers and markets.
