 GOV OKOWA URGES EFFURUN-OTOR INDIGENES TO KEY INTO GOVT PROGRAMMES
In line with his vision to prioritise agriculture through the SMART agenda in Delta State, the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has called on indigenes of Effurun-Otor, in Ughelli South Local Government to take advantage of the various programmes of government particularly the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurial Programme ( YAGEP ) and Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Programme ( STEP )  to improve on their  production capacity.
Dr. Okowa made the call  while presenting the  Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Johnson Enemuadia Yovwino Duku, JP, RDN, Hrm King Duku II 11, the Orovworere of Effurun-Otor Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State. 
 The governor who was represented by his deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, assured that in spite of the dire economic situation both in the country and world at large, his administration remain determined through the SMART agenda, to provide sustainable development in every part of the state.
While congratulating His Royal Majesty, Johnson Enemuadia Yovwino Duku, Duku11 on his appointment and recognition as the Orovworere of Effurun - Otor Kingdom, Dr. Okowa commended the people for the  peaceful process that lead to the enthronement of their royal father and appeal to them to promote the integrity of the stool by according the royal father the repect he deserves. 
The governor charge His Royal Majesty to discharge his responsibilities in transparent manner by being fair and just to all and sundry. According to him; " As the custodian of the people, it is important that you do not in words or action give any cause to your subject to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of thier custom, but you should imbibe the virtue of dialogue and consultation in all your dealings with the people". He stated. 
While noting that the Orovworere has great significance for the people of Effurun - Otor,  and thanking them for the show of support to government,   he assured that their request will be channeled to the appropriate agencies of government for necessary attention. 
Earlier, in a welcomed addressed by the people of Effurun - Otor Kingdom, the Secretary, Effurun-Otor Traditional Council Olorogun Best Ijabor, noted that the Kingdom is one of the largest Oil and Gas producing community with abundant aquatic life.
Olorogun Ijabor while noting that the peaceful nature of the community makes it a safe heaven for investors to thrive in the kingdom, appealed to the state government for the completion of the Effurun - Otor Road and foot-bridge adding that it will serve as an access link to inter-communal trade.
He thanked the state government for the renovation of the primary school in the kingdom and assured that they will strive to build bridges and not walls because they believe that peace is not made out of council tables, or by treaties but in the heart of man.
The Chairman, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Hon. Paul Etaga, assured that people of Effurun - Otor would continue to sustain the legacy of cooperation and trust as well as continue to improve on the attributes of peace, tranquillity and cooperation. 
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Johnson Enemuadia Yovwino Duku, JP, King Duku11, the Orovworere of Effurun - Otor Kingdom by the State Governor represented by his deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro.
