MARRIED FEMALE GOSPEL SINGER INVITED BY ''FACEBOOK PASTOR'' FOUND DEAD IN HOTEL

Female gospel singer invited by ‘facebook pastor’ found dead in hotel
A female gospel singer, Yvonne Omoarebokhae, has been found dead in a hotel in Benin, the Edo State capital. The deceased, a house wife was said to have lodged in the hotel with a Lagos based Pastor whose identity was given as Apostle Psalm Okpe of the Fresh Oil Ministry.

Narrating the circumstance surrounding his wife’s death, her husband, Odion Omoarebokhae said his wife met Apostle Psalm on Facebook and after several months of chatting, the pastor invited her last week Thursday, to perform in Warri, Delta State.

He said Apostle Psalm claimed to have programme in Warri, Asaba and Benin City where his wife was to perform. He further explained that Psalm promised to take his wife to South Africa to perform.

Omoarebokhae said his wife called him at about 10am last Friday that she would be home soon but that he was surprised when the police later invited him through a phone call with his late wife’s cell phone.

“At about 9:30pm, the police used my wife’s phone to call and invited me to report at the Airport Road police station. “I waited for more than two hours at the police station until the police asked me to go home but I insisted on knowing the whereabouts of my wife.

“The DPO later told me that my wife was picked at a hotel in the GRA and rushed to the Benin Central hospital where she was confirmed dead.

“I am yet to see the corpse of my wife to know what happened and who was responsible for her death. We have a three-year-old-baby at home,” the bereaved husband explained.

Sources said the pastor has been arrested and is helping police with investigation. Confirming the incident, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said the matter was under investigation, that a post mortem examination will confirm the cause of death.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
