NIGERIANS AND THE AUDACITY OF HYPOCRISY

When corruption findings are against those from our "camp" of the political divide, the findings suddenly become "frivolous" and "as useless as they come". But in the case of those from another "camp", a mere rumour from Oshiomhole is more than enough to 'convict' the person in our kangaroo court.

We shouldn't have any sympathy for any thief in whatever party but this is Nigeria. We don't criticize or go after the thieves in "the same political camp" as us or thieves who we think have "impliedly repented" by joining "the same camp" as us.

Even Saraki was a 'hero' until he stepped on the toes of his traducers and he then suddenly 'regained' his reputation as a thief.

If Diezani returns to Nigeria today and starts to shout the right slogans and joins the right side of the political divide and begins to abuse some people, our people would suddenly start to defend ‎their acts of gross perfidy against Nigeria.

If Amaechi should disagree with Baba today, the same people defending him today would suddenly remember he's a thief.

Is it for the partisan public to determine who can stand "any form of scrutiny ‎in any court of law" or for the court to determine that by itself?

Nigerian political elites do these stuff to keep each other in check. Mutually assured Destruction. They will not move against you as long as join them.

Is this how we should define or treat the common incidences of serious corruption against the "oppressed masses" of Nigerians?

And somebody somewhere is talking about morality and ideology.

Shaking my head for my country.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
