THE DAWN RAID OF OPOROZA - By Tosan Blessing Merhiakpome Harriman

The Military invasion of Oporoza Delta State yesterday, show the slack side of the vendetta war directed against innocence. Importantly so. the President Mohammadu Buhari led Central Government must recognize at once, that it is being led to fight a war it cannot win.

I insist that the intelligence leading to the invasion of Oporoza yesterday by men of the Nigerian Military is a political intelligence machinated through some criminal elements in the Delta State who opportunistically cross carpeted to the APC not because they believed or ever read any copy of its handbook but primarily because they saw it as an opportunity to vent their spleen of revenge against Chief Tom Ekpemuopolo who resisted the criminal moves of these men to corruptly enrich themselves with our common patrimony.

There is evidence that these criminal elements used their Tank Farms to store large quantum of Nigerian crude from where they operated their criminal enterprise. There is further evidence that while they hobnob with PDP lasted, their Tank Farms were employed to illegally store DPK and PMS meant for the Nigerian consumers. One of the former MD of PPPRA, who was recently arrested by the EFCC was known to have used these Tank Farms to crudely ferret away products at a time the Nation was hit with serious regime of scarcity.

There is evidence that products that the PPPRA paid for, were diverted to the Tank Farm owned by these criminal elements, but whose products were never re invested into the Petroleum pool as those products and proceeds found their ways into private pockets. Sometimes some persons must tell us how they became billionaires. We have to be shown receipts of transactions to justify such obvious criminal claims.

I insist therefore that APC cannot be used by any individual to fight their business interest. I further insist that the intelligence leading to the attack of Oporoza is misplaced and counter productive. The so called Niger Delta Avengers militia does not exist as it is a small band of criminal elements who are seizing on the lethargy in the oil River to foist fear. The Chief of Army Staff must as a matter of utmost urgency retrace its steps and re investigate the intelligence that led it to attack the peaceful ancestral home of Gbaramatu kingdom.

I insist that Chief Government Tom Ekpemuopolo is not and has never been the problem of the Niger Delta. If anything, he is the solution and should be celebrated as such. '

My names are Tosan Blessing Merhiakpome Harriman and that's the way I see it.

  1. So appalling how things are done in this dispensation. You attack a whole town to out of hatred. Where in this world is democracy practised like this? It's high time we start reclaiming our heritage (oil) because that is the reason they won't let us be.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
