CHAIRMAN, AGOFURE MOTORS LAUDS OKOWA FOR SUSTAINING DELTA STATE URBAN MASS TRANSIT SCHEME - BY DENNIS OTU

THE Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Of Agofure Nigeria Limited, operators of the Agofure Motors, Olorogun Godwin Omote Agofure has lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for sustaining the State Urban Mass Transit Scheme inherited from former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

The Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme (Delta City Bus) is being operated by Agofure Nigeria Limited on behalf of the Delta State Government.

The Chairman/C.E.O. of Agofure Nigeria Limited, Olorogun Godwin Omote Agofure in a statement made available to our Correspondent in Warri, showered praises on Governor Okowa for sustaining the Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme.

According to him;"The Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme is a thing of joy to every Deltan presently sustained by the amiable and foresighted present Executive Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa."

He added that; "In appreciation of the Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme, Governor Okowa has provided good support for its continuity so that Deltans will not go back to the dark age of exploitation of commuters by transporters".

Olorogun Agofure also said that;"Owing to this programme, huge success of making transportation easy and efficient, many Deltans have applauded the present government's goodwill and support for the programme such that they are asking for the expansion of the programme for better transportation service delivery to reinforce other priority areas of this government resolve to provide abundantly and efficiently for the masses, in its applaudable vision of prosperity and inclusiveness in government for all Deltans".

Kudos, he stated, must be given to the founding father of the Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the immediate past Governor of Delta State who deemed it fit to establish the scheme for the masses in Delta State.

"This indeed is one of the dividends of democracy which has endured till date with the support of the present government. The idea of the scheme being for Deltans to enjoy modern, cheap and affordable transportation service within the state cannot be compared to what obtains in other parts of the country," Olorogun Agofure said.

According to him: "Since the establishment of the scheme which has been well managed by its operators is patronized by all Deltans who have welcomed it and seen its introduction as liberating Deltans from endless agony of the exploitative grip of transporters in the transportation industry."

"We thank God for giving Delta State visionary leaders driven with a vision for quality service delivery and putting the people first and deploying the resources and funds of Delta State for the benefit of all Deltans which is the very essence of good governance," he posited.

Olorogun Agofure added;"Visionary leaders they say leave their “footprints in the sands of time” which is the hallmark of the social contract between leaders and those they govern."

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
