FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FAILED NOT GOD, NOT YOU, NOT NIGERIA.

Discipline is like a river. It flows from top to bottom and not vice versa; so is leadership. GEJ may have run a corrupt government but Buhari is running an incompetent government with misplaced portfolio for ministers and a wrong priority on religion instead of critical sectors.

Companies are closing shop because of policy somersault worse food insecurity is biting hard and no plans to evolve a regional agenda for governors to get involved in resettlement of IDPs. Herdsmanism with a grazing bill in 21st century is a priority not tech innovation to introduce fodder tech and encourage increased earnings from breeding with more earnings from milk, cheese and dairy products. Nigeria with PMB is back 30 years to under development with 83-year-old retiree who has no knowledge of ICT as NCC chairman in this age of e-commerce.

Religion don’t produce hardware. Science did. Boko haram is a product of skewed religious teachings that are incompatible with modernity. No effort is made to give priority to educating almajiris who serve as breeding camps for jihadists.

Forex policy of this government and entire economic team represent a repressed long standing anarchy against economic survival of Nigeria. It is without doubt that use of poverty as instrument of control is part of religious crusades that predates this century as such all patriots must voice out their disapproval of the claims of a failed, hopeless situation by this government when reverse is the case. It is the government that has failed not the nation.

They failed in diplomacy to seek alternate dispute resolution in resolving crisis at oil and gas sector. Late President Yaradua was both muslim and fulani but he arrested situation by encouraging a sense of belonging to Niger Deltans, encouraged education and skill development for confessed militants to discourage criminality as means of livelihood while encouraging oil production. This government failed by wrong placement of ministers based on their experience. Rotimi Amechi will serve better in education being his priority while in office as governor. Ngige will serve better as minister for health being a doctor. Fashola is not an engineer as such works, housing and power are critical sectors way out of his experience. He is a seasoned administrator not an engineer. He will do better as SGF or minister for justice to arrest the challenges in our courts.

President has toured foreign nations but failed to embark on nationwide tour to assess the state of nation and make more informed decisions. President has failed to address growing concerns on tribe and religion induced insecurity and failed to remind himself of the plurality of Nigeria in religious choices, ethnic and tribal sensibilities and most importantly allow a divergent view of politics. Constitutional democracy is not dictatorship masked in democracy. We need to encourage development at regional level so as to eliminate entitlement mentality that is breeding anger through his lopsided appointments.

Nigeria needs to restructure to grow. The president must change first and the people will follow suit. Leadership is by example.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...

THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP: Chief James Ibori Celebrated for His Impact on Delta State

On Friday, May 31st, during the funeral service for the Late Asagba of Asaba, the essence of true leadership was vividly displayed. The service featured the introduction of various dignitaries, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. As each dignitary was introduced, the church remained silent. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed when the name of Former Governor James Ibori was announced; the congregation erupted in wide jubilation and applause. This reaction was so profound that even Senator George Akume and Governor Obaseki could not hide their astonishment. The enthusiastic reception for Chief James Ibori during this solemn occasion highlighted his enduring legacy among the people of Delta State. Despite having left office seventeen years ago, he continues to be celebrated whenever he attends public functions i...
