As part of the second-year anniversary in office, His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has decided to hold town hall meetings across the State to present his two years score card to the people of Delta State

The first leg, which took the Governor to Isoko North local government area was a major success, as the people trooped out in their numbers to welcome and listen to Senator Okowa.
The Governor who was well received by the people wasted no time in listing his achievements within two years in the midst of acute economic recession. The Governor explained that the State is burdened with huge recurrent expenditure, which is almost outweighing resources for capital projects. In all, the administration has continued to work so hard to prudently manage the State resources to deliver substantial dividends of democracy.

Governor Okowa also used the opportunity of being in Isoko North to flag off the second phase of free eye test and surgery, a people focused health programme designed to bring back smile on the faces of some Deltans with glaucoma; blurred vision and partial blindness. He also commissioned several projects and went around to inspect other ongoing projects.

The people of Delta State are hereby encouraged to be part of the exercise and should use the opportunity offered by the town hall meetings to clear issues with which they have doubts and also make their inputs into governance. There is no doubt that this interaction will enhance the quality of governance in the State.Image may contain: one or more people and people sitting

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
