Members of NYSC Batch A posted to Delta
State have completed their orientation exercise at the NYSC permanent orientation
camp in Iselle-uku, Aniocha North local government area. The Governor of Delta State,
Sen Ifeanyi Okowa was represented by by secretary to the Delta State Government,
Hon Festus Ovie Agas at
the passing out ceremony.
The Governor used the occasion to advise the corps members that the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development
programme of the NYSC, to which they have been exposed in the course of the
orientation, is meant to make them employers of labour rather than job seekers
at the end of the service year. He tasked them to take advantage of the
knowledge acquired during the orientation course and use that as a launching
pad for self-fulfillment during the service year and beyond.
Governor Okowa cautioned corps members against unnecessary
travels, while calling on all local government chairmen, traditional rulers,
community leaders and all security agencies, to consciously take the security
of corps members seriously. He urged all concerned to endeavour to provide a
peaceful and friendly atmosphere for these youths to contribute their quota to
the development of Delta State.
