The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Hon. Barrister Festus Ovie Agas, has described the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as a visionary and detribalised leader whose firm determination to deliver on his electioneering promises is unparalleled. The SSG stated this in his congratulatory message to the Governor on his fifty eighth birthday celebration.

"I congratulate Your Excellency as you mark and celebrate your 58th birthday anniversary in good health and divine favour. You have over the years made your family and the State proud, especially for your unbroken promises and visionary leadership which has opened a new page of quality service to Deltans”.

"I am grateful to God for His divine hands upon your life and that of your family, particularly as you lead us into another phase of socioeconomic and and political development.

"The footprints of your good governance initiatives since you assumed office as Governor of Delta State speaks volume and a pointer to the fact that God in His infinite wisdom ordained you to be our Governor, especially at a most trying time as this, when our people are yearning earnestly for a visionary, detribalised, proactive and result oriented leader.

"The good people Delta Central and indeed all Deltans are proud of you and are praying fervently for you and your family.

"I strongly believe that your life is just beginning at fifty-eight, as your wise counsel and services is still needed by Deltans and our dear country, Nigeria. I pray God to grant you good health and long life for more selfless service to Delta State, Nigeria and the entire human race”, Agas added.

OBOREVWORI: How Not To Glorify A 'One Chance' Governor - By Zik Gbemre

It is appalling how, in desperation to sustain its thieving hegemony over the Delta State Government since 1999, the Delta PDP had the audacity to impose the weakest, most uninformed contender, a local champion, as Governor over a state replete with accomplished men and women of immense capacity. Given this unenviable privilege, one would have expected the fortunate placeholder governor, Sheriff Oborevwori—whose only election campaign manifesto was pledging to improve on the failed leadership of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor—to engage creative minds and individuals of proven integrity to assist him in making a difference. Rather than doing the needful, Oborevwori has worsened matters by electing to engage the same spent leaders, deadwood, and gluttons that have gained prominence in running the state down over successive administrations. The result has been a government of mediocre officeholders competing to run the state for their pockets at the detriment of the populace, under a gove...
