PRESIDENT ROBERT MUGABE SACKED AS RULING PARTY LEADER

Embattled President Robert Mugabe has been sacked from his position as leader of the ruling ZANU-PF party and replaced by Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Reuters, citing sources at a special ZANU-PF meeting, reports that the decision that led to Mugabe’s replacement was reached on Sunday, November 19. “He has been expelled,” one of delegates told Reuters.
Three other delegates who confirmed Mugabe’s dismissal said Mnangagwa was their new party leader.
Emmerson Mnangagwa was the vice-president who was removed by Mugabe for his preferred successor, his wife Grace.
However the political situation in the country climaxed when the army seized control on Wednesday, November 15, and confined the president to his residence.
The party also confirmed the sacking of Mugabe as its leader on its official twitter page:

Thousands of Zimbabweans flooded the streets of Harare on Saturday, November 18, waving national flags, singing and dancing in an outpouring of elation at the expected fall of President Robert Mugabe.
However, despite the march by the people to call on the dictator to resign, Mugabe has refused to step aside.
