The National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday night, left the Presidential Villa, without speaking to State House Correspondents.
He sneaked out of Aso Rock in a tinted vehicle, after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall, that the meeting was held a few hours after former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, had in an 18-page memo, yesterday, advised Buhari not to run for Presidency in 2019.
After leaving the Villa, a few minutes later, Tinubu through his Media Aide, Tunde Rahman, issued a statement, saying that the visit to the President earlier, had nothing to do with the memo written by Obasanjo.
This came as some Nigerians had speculated that Buhari had called Tinubu for a meeting to discuss about the letter written by the former President.
“Today’s visit by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande to the Presidential Villa, was scheduled last week.”
“President Buhari periodically schedules talks with Asiwaju Tinubu and Baba Akande, as he does with other Nigerians and APC figures, to discuss substantive issues pertaining to the governance of the country, and matters concerning the party.”
“This visit was one such meeting. As such, the meeting had nothing to do with the statement of former President Obasanjo.”
“It is totally unconnected. At the time of the meeting, Asiwaju Tinubu and Baba Akande were even unaware that President Obasanjo had released his statement”, he stated.
