President Muhammadu Buhari will in few hours depart for Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia, to participate in the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, AU.
This was made known in a Press Statement released by Buhari’s Spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on Thursday.
“This is the first time in the 54-year history of the AU that anti-corruption will be made a theme of the gathering of the Regional Leaders,” the statement said.
”On July 4, 2017, during the 29th Session of the AU, African leaders unanimously endorsed Buhari to champion the fight against corruption on the Continent.
“The endorsement was in recognition of his personal commitment and widely acclaimed anti-graft drive at the domestic level,” Adesina said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami; the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazau; the Minister of State (Aviation), Hadi Sirika; the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu are in the President’s delegation to the Summit.
Apart from anti-corruption, other issues lined for consideration by African Leaders and their delegations include peace and security (transnational terrorism); institutional reforms of the continental body; free movement of persons; climate change; trade; aviation; education; gender and development.
Buhari will also hold bilateral meetings with some of his colleagues on issues of common interests.

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a 12-member Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), tasked with recommending individuals eligible for presidential pardons from criminal convictions. The committee, chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was inaugurated on Wednesday. It has a four-year tenure and includes members drawn from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as representatives from religious bodies and four eminent Nigerians. GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI APPOINTS OSEJI AS DELTA HEAD OF SERVICE

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Minimim Oseji as the new Head of Service. Her appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who served in the position for nearly nine years. Dr. Oseji, a medical doctor, was previously the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and had also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
