The state Commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties, Mr Ernest Ogwezzy, who gave the assurance when he visited the market to sympathise with those whose shops and wares were razed by Wednesday’s fire disaster, said the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration was committed to the wellbeing of all Deltans.
Ogwezzy who also inspected the burnt portions of the market, said: “The extent of damage as I have witnessed so far is colossal and I don’t know how to estimate the level of damage caused by this inferno but all I need to say is that it was a big loss.”
Urging the victims and other shop owners to always guard against fire, he said: “You should at all times provide fire extinguishers in your shops and residence so that when these things happen, people can easily combat the fire before fire fighters will arrive.”
