SHAMEFUL THAT BOKO HARAM KIDNAPPED HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLGIRLS UNDER BUHARI’S WATCH – Lai Mohammed Opens Up

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has disclosed the reasons why boko haram kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls at the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on Monday.

The Minister who spoke at a fact-finding visit to the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, said that the reason was that the insurgents want to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari’s Government, and to attract attention.

He added that Soldiers will not rest on their oars, until the girls are rescued.

On the case of the number of students being abducted, the Minister said they have not been able to establish how many people were abducted.

“What we know for a fact now is we cannot account for some students, but since two days ago, students have been reporting back to School.

“We also have it on record that some of them have phoned from their hiding place, some from Damaturu, some from other locations. But, as things develop, we will let you know.

“However, we cannot categorically say ‘X’ number of students have been abducted, but we can say not all students have returned”, he emphasised.

Fielding questions on the State Government’s statement about the rescue of some of the girls, he said: “I think we should take it in context; to me, the most authoritative position is the one given by both the Governor, Theater Commander, and the GOC. What we know is that some students cannot be accounted for. That is because some of them are still returning back”, he added.
