Let’s be honest,some of our youth are truly lazy and dishonest. Anyone who does not believe that is either naive or being deceiving. There is actually something good about the president recognizing and stating this obvious situation and my hope is that his administration, along with senate, congress and governors, would look into how to create jobs within the country for those youths who want to work. Otherwise this alarming laziness and focus on “easy money”, both of which have been in existence since the nation realized the boom in oil, confounded by 419, yahoo yahoo and diaspora Nigerians, especially in USA, sending money to able-bodied youths, needs to be called out.
These youths and adults have learnt how to get money from Western Union and now directly from bank accounts. In essence, diaspora Nigerians, helped to create this laziness in some of our people. And it is not just that!
In USA, many marriages were destroyed with children left to suffer due to this urge to send money home, especially women, many of whom felt that once arrived in USA, their immediate goal is how much they would send home, what kind of mansions, etc, they would send to please their parents and friends (Actually to win the love that they never got as children!) Many neglected their children and spouses to go work not to ensure that the immediate family have the means but to go build mansions in their homes (not the homes of their spouses!) and of course park SUVs.
Today, most of those women are single, old, worn out and lonely (make up can only do but so much!) Children are grown and gone, most of the parents dead. Most of the men have re-married. All that many of these women now have is misery, loneliness and some guys who go to pass whatever through them for a few minutes and run! It will get worse as many get into their late sixties and seventies! Mind you, most of the homes they built are now awfully looking and most would not live in them again!
President Buhari would just have to understand that there are those Nigerians who will always find something wrong in whatever he does or says. And that is okay, it comes with the position! They have rights to do so. The problem is that most of these are same people who rant, curse and attack anyone who expresses an opinion different from theirs. This is what should concern us as a people.
